

Funeral Services for Mrs. Alice Marie Aycock Burgess, age 93 of Hanceville, will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Moss-Service Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Delbert Freeman and Rev. Thomas Yarbrough officiating. Interment will follow at Bethesda church of Christ Cemetery.

Mrs. Burgess passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at her residence. She was born on September 7, 1918 in Cullman County to Wheeler and Lonnie Elliott Aycock. Mildred was a lifetime resident of Cullman County, and a longtime member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. Alice was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and loved all her family, along with making some of the best fried apple pies. The family would like to thank all the many, many friends and Hospice of Cullman County who helped to take care of her these last few years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Grady Burgess; one daughter, Vera Campbell; two sons, Ray and Clarence Burgess; granddaughter, Sandy Marie Burgess; great-grandson, Austin Gage Burgess; sister, Elise Aycock; and two brothers, Richard and Cordes Aycock.
Survivors include her four 5 – Daughters –Barbara Hunt; Lillie (Larry) Tucker; Brenda (Charlie) Duke; Rita (Larry) Aker; and Pat (Tim) Kline; one Daughter-in-Law – Wanda Burgess; six 6 – Sons – J.R. Burgess, Jerry (Angie) Burgess, Bobby (Barbara) Burgess, Donald (Elaine) Burgess, Joe (Linda) Burgess and David (Vickie) Burgess; 25 – Grandchildren; 37 Great-Grandchildren; and 6 – Great-Great-Grandchildren; and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, other Family and Friends.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, September 23, 2011, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
