

Funeral Services for Mr. Amos Roscoe Harvell, age 88, of Cullman, will be held on Sunday, May 29, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. at the Lighthouse Ministry Church. Interment will follow at Duck River Cemetery with Rev. Rick Briscoe and Rev. Howard Johnson officiating. He will lie-in-state at the church for one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Harvell was born on July 3, 1922 in LaGrange Georgia to the late Jim Harvell and Georgie Crawford Taylor. He passed away on May 26, 2011 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Birmingham. Amos had farmed for many years, and also worked a taxi cab for over twenty years. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing; but his passion was dancing down at the VFW Post, two or three times a week where he was know as “Famous Amos”. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 63 years, Mae Barbee Harvell; two sisters and one brother.

Survivors include six 6 – Daughters – Nell Green, Brenda (Jimmy) Hammons, Linda (Rick) Briscoe, Kathy (Billy) Malin, Arlene Hammons and Janice (Alton) Wisener; two 2 – Sons – Joe (Linda) Harvell and Danny Harvell; one Sister – Lorraine Nichols; one Brother – Alvin Harvell and one Half-Brother – Junior Taylor; 17 – Grandchildren; 38 – Great-Grandchildren; and 5 – Great-Great-Grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, May 28, 2011, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
