Mrs. Berta Lavell Hamby McCarn

Funeral Services for Mrs. Berta Lavell McCarn, age 86 of Cullman, will be held on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Moss-Service Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at New Home Cemetery, with Bro. Bradley McDonald and Bro. Gary Milligan officiating.

Mrs. McCarn was born on November 26, 1926 in Cullman County to the late Elijah and Myrtle Bell Page Hamby. She passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Woodland Village Health Care.

Berta is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Ollie Carlton “O.C.” Thomas and Burnett H. McCarn; four sisters, Mae Bell Casey, Sue Stephen, Ressie Corene Pitts and Dean Casey; and four brothers, Clifford Tennyson, Jim Tennyson, Junior Hamby and Coston Hamby.

Mrs. McCarn was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had a God given talent of a beautiful voice, and loved to sing. She had attended services at Faith Restoration Church.

Survivors include two 2 – Daughters – Martha (Jerry) McNab and Susan (Marlin) Drake; and three 3 – Sons – Larry Carlton (Mary) Thomas, Richard (Janice) Thomas and Terry (Angela) McCarn; ten 10 – Grandchildren – Jennifer Thornton, Reed Thornton, Rebecca Wallace, Steven Thomas, Gina Moody, Amanda Lott, Noah Lott, Randi Thomas, Riley McCarn and Regan McCarn; and six 6 – Great-Grandchildren

The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Moss-Service Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until the 8:00 p.m.
