Mr. Charles William Beck

Funeral Services for Mr. Charles William Beck, age 81, of West Point, will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at Ebenezer Baptist Church. Interment will follow with Military Honors in the Adjoining Cemetery, with Rev. Terry Blankenship and Rev. Dennis Trimble officiating. Mr. Beck will lie-in-state at the church for one hour prior to the service.

Charles was born in Cullman to the late B.W. Beck and Edith Mae Bell Beck, on January 18, 1932. He passed away at his residence surrounded by family on Monday, May 20, 2013. Mr. Beck proudly served in the U.S. Airforce during the Korean War. For 17 of his early years, he was a truck driver, later became a firefighter for the City of Cullman, where he retired with 25 years of service and as a Captain. Charles was a devoted family man, and a wonderful grandfather to Mason and Emily.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years – Mrs. Betty Overton Beck; one Son – Tim (Jennifer) Beck; and two 2 – Grandchildren – Mason Charles Beck and Emily Jordan Beck.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home for visitation on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.

The Cullman City Firemen will serve as pallbearers.

Betty, I am so sorry to hear about Chucks passing: and that I have only just now learned about it (wednesday night). I would have been there had I know.
I love you and am praying for you. I have lost a spouse so I know the loss you are feeling.

Pat and I are sorry to learn of Chuck passing. We became friends many years ago when he worked with my father, Fred Nicklaus. It has been several years ago but the memories are as vivid as ever. May God bless the family.
