I went to work with the Highway Department in April of 1965 working in Darold's survey party. We worked together and rode together until sometime in 1981 except for about 2 years I spent as inspector at the concrete plant and 6 months active duty in the army. Darold was a real family man and I felt like I knew the whole family because he spoke so much about them. He was also one of the most respected people in the Highway Dept. When Tim Colvert went to work with us in the mid 70's he told me that his brother in law who was later Highway Director said he would be working with the best part chief in the state.

Loved it when Darold would always ask me how I felt every Sunday when he could barely walk. He made me feel so good. Thank you, Darold

Such a wonderful friend and a marvelous, magnetic personality. From the moment I met Mr. Darold at a pizza place, I felt a warmth of genuine concern from him and Ms. Mattie. So many great memories from those meals including the sharing of stories and laughter. While his passing leaves a huge whole in many hearts, the memories will inspire us for generations. Love, Ken

I worked with Darold for many years at ALDOT, we rode to work together. Being a young man at the time he was like a mentor to all of us younger men. He was such a good Christian man someone we should all be like.
I pray Mrs. Tubbs that God will give you comfort in this difficult time.

“Mr Darold” always had a sweet smile and shared so much love. Even with his physical difficulties getting around the past several years, it was obvious that he loved and enjoyed his family and his church family! Our love and prayers are with “Miss Mattie Lee” and the entire family. There’s no doubt Mr Darold is running and jumping (and maybe even dancing) with Jesus and is in no pain!
We Love Y’all!
