

Funeral Services for Mr. Decherd Wade Edmondson, age 78 of Vinemont, will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hamby’s Chapel Methodist, with his brother Stephen R. Edmondson doing the eulogy and Rev. Henry Praytor and Rev. Jeremy Oden officiating. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery. He will lie-in-state at the church for one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Edmondson passed away on Monday, September 26, 2011. He was born on August 19, 1933 in Cullman County to the late Good Hugh Edmondson and Leldon Deasy Holmes Edmondson. Decherd was a lifetime member of Hamby’s Chapel Church, and it’s general foremen after the church burned in 1982, also the church was founded by his great-grandmother Nancy Wade Holmes. He was a member of the Iron Workers Union Local 477 of Sheffield, along with his iron work that took him from the Super Dome in New Orleans, to the Von Braun Civic Center in Huntsville and also the Saturn 5 Rocket tower at the Huntsville Space and Rocket Center. One of his great passions was flying, he was local known as the owner of the store with the airplane over the gas pumps (Eva road); and was a member of the “Staggerwing Museum” organization out of Tullahoma, TN.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one son, Decherd Rex Edmondson and one brother, Lamont Echota Edmondson.
Survivors include his wife, Yeny Diaz Edmondson; two 2 – Daughters – Lori Edmondson (Mark) Jones and Marjorie Edmondson; one Son – Christian Hugh Edmondson; one Sister – Gwyn E. (Jerry) Bredeson; and one Brother – Stephen R. Edmondson; four 4 – Grandchildren – Justin (Julia) Edmondson, Evan Edmondson, Katie Jones and Alex Jones; and one Great-Granddaughter - Isabella Edmondson (on the way); and a host of Friends.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, September 28, 2011, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
