Ethel Marie Wilkinson

Funeral Service will be at Enon Baptist Church in Cullman County near Eva, Alabama, On Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 1:00 PM. Mrs. Wilkinson will lie in state from 12:00 noon until the service time. Dr. David Stancil and Bro. Wendell Bennett will officiate the service. Interment will be immediately following the service in the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5:00 pm until 8:00pm. at Moss Service Funeral Home in Cullman.

Mrs. Wilkinson was born to Volley V. Sanders and Gertha Howard Sanders January 13, 1924 in Cullman County. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lilburn T. Wilkinson; brothers: Herbert Sanders, & Owen Sanders and his wife Katie; sister, Gladys Sanders Denney and her husband James: niece, Elaine Denney Rice; and nephews, Rexford Denney and Lee Sanders; and daughter-in-law, Donna Wilkinson.

She was a retired unit secretary from Cullman Hospital and Bay County Memorial Hospital, Panama City, Florida. She also enjoyed selling Tupperware to family and friends. Her hobbies included; crocheting, preserving fruits and vegetables and sewing for her family.

She was a loving mother who taught her children many life skills. She and their dad always took their family to church. She was saved as a girl and was a member of Center Grove Baptist church before moving to the Enon community in Cullman County where she joined and remained a member of Enon Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughters; Mary Ellen (David) Holmes, Eva; Nina (“Bear”) Nelson, Eva; Doris Elaine “Dottie” (Cevdet) Turnali, Istanbul, Turkey; Regina (Eric) Thompson, Decatur; and son, Tommy Wilkinson, Hoover; grandsons: Perry (Donna) Holmes, Patrick Holmes, Paul (Michelle) Holmes, Martin (Shannon) Nelson (all of Eva); Todd (Jennifer) Thompson, Lewisburg, TN; Cavit (Jolee) Turnali, North Carolina; Sacit Turnali, Buffalo, NY; granddaughters, Mischelle (Kieth) Cagle, Birmingham; Renee (Ramiro) Arroya, Eva; Jessica (Zach) Halbrooks, Decatur; and Kate Wilkinson, Hoover, 18 great great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.
