Franklin D. Hanson passed away on January 5, 2019 at the age of 85 years old.

Frank was born in Winston County, Alabama to William and Mary Hanson. He was one of twelve children. He spent most of his life in Cullman County. He enlisted in the Air Force and served honorably for three years during the Korean War. After his service, he moved back to Cullman County and graduated from Saint Bernard College in Cullman. He began working at Service Oil Company. He eventually bought the company and ran it successfully for many years until he retired.

Frank loved his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He enjoyed going on vacations to the beach and on cruises with his family. He also loved Alabama football and he loved to play golf. He was a founding member of the Cullman OFC and enjoyed his weekly Friday meetings and golf outings. He was very thankful for his church, the First Presbyterian Church in Cullman, and his church family. He always had an infectious smile and a sparkle in his eyes. We will all miss him so much.

Frank is survived by his two sons, Jeff (Vickie) Hanson and Mitch (Leeza) Hanson; his daughter Suzanne (JC) Guerrero; his sisters, Edna Hanson, Jane Stefanski, and Mamie Johnson, his grandchildren, Leslie Buckhalt, Christopher Hanson, Elizabeth Chambers, Stephen Guerrero, Sam Guerrero, Hannah Hanson, Lukas Hanson, and Jen Hays; his great grandchildren, Abbie Buckhalt, Owen Hanson, Hudson Hanson, and Amber Marchman. He was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Hanson, and son, Steve (Vickie) Hanson.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 8th from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Moss Service Funeral Home in Cullman, Alabama. His funeral service will be on Wednesday, January 9th at 11:00 A.M. at First Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at Cullman Memory Gardens. Hey sweet Hanson family. I was out of the country and just heard the news. Our family will miss your sweet daddy, whom the children always called “Mr.Handsome”. He was always so kind and the best neighbors (with your mamma) The kids would be missing for hours and show up at the house with stories of cookies and milk next door!
What sweet memories he made for them!

My condolences on the loss of your father. I will always remember him at our football and basketball practices and games. All the great times spent with your family from middle school,
through college and beyond. Your mom and dad were always there for me as we grew up, it was like having a 2nd family. I loved them as I love my own parents. They will live on now forever in our cherished memories. Your entire family has my thoughts and prayers.
