Gerald George Kelly
August 30, 1947 – March 20, 2020
George Kelly, 72 of Cullman, passed away On Friday, March 20, 2020 at his residence surrounded by family. George was a man of strong faith and conviction! He was quick to offer his help without expectation of return. He was a loving father and husband that demonstrated his affection in his daily walk. He possessed the Spiritual Gifts of Wisdom, Understanding and Council, among others, and used these gifts to lift up his family, friends and brothers & sisters in Christ He was a good businessman that always made sure you got a square deal. He loved to work with his tractor and chop wood, but his passions were making music and fishing for whatever was biting that day! He was known to be thrifty and made sure you understood the value of the dollar. He possessed a double helping of humility and never met a stranger. He was loved by those that knew him and he will be missed beyond what can be described in words. We know that he is in a better place now where pain and suffering do not exist. He is certainly in the presence of his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ, along with his family and friends that went before him. He has now certainly heard these words from his Heavenly Father: Well Done, Good and Faithful Servant! Mr. Kelly is preceded in death by his parents: James F. and Susanna C. VanderPutte Kelly; brothers: James Kelly, Robert Kelly and Alva Kelly and sister, MaryAnn Kelly Tuggey. He is survived by his wife Diann Kelly; daughters: Christina Carolyn (Shane) Chumley and Libby Frances Kelly; son, Jason Michael (Julie) Kelly; grandchildren: Jacob Clark, Marcus Clark, Ben Kelly and Della Kelly; sister, Hedy S. (Charles) L’Hereault; brother, John A. (Sandra) Kelly and a host of nieces and nephews. I can't begin to express how my heart hurts for all of you. George was so young. I really enjoyed it when Harold and George picked and grinned in the music room and we had dinner together.
I was looking forward to our friendships growing after I retire in June. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

George was a really good person! Always had kind words for everyone! I always enjoyed seeing and spending time with him and Diann.
He left behind a lot of good, fond memories!

One of my dear memories is of George sitting on his back porch with a new mandolin that he had gotten a few days earlier. He said to me that he found this and was going to learn to play it, even though it sounded as if he had playing most of his life already. I love and will miss you fine sir.

My condolences to you Diane, Libby, Chris, Jason, and other family members. The world lost a truly good man who loved you all and is loved by many. I'll never forget the good times spent with George and all of you through the years growing up. Music, meals, talking, good times, love and friendship. Y'all were like family to me and treated me so nice. My heart, love, and best wishes to you.

Just wanted to say George has always been one of my most favorite people. I could listen to him sing for hours. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a layed back philosophy of life. Some of my most fond memories are when we all "hung out" together. Please know that you are in my prayers as you grieve his loss🙏🙏🙏🤟

I knew George years ago and have fond memories of going fishing with him. He was a good man who loved his family very much. He also loved fishing and an occasional cigar. My sincere condolences go out to his wife Diane, and two daughters Chris and Libby. I will keep the family in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
