

Funeral Services for Mrs. Gertrue “Mama Gert” Frances Burns Chambers, age 93 of Cullman, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Flint Creek Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery, with Bryan Cain, Gregory Cain and Christopher Cain officiating. She will lie-in-state at the church for one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Chambers was born in Morgan County on January 12, 1921 to the late John Henry & Gracie Myrtle Ralph Burns, she passed away on April 3, 2014, at Woodland Village Nursing Home surrounded by family. “Mama Gert” was a longtime member of Flint Creek Baptist Church, and from a very early age learned to cook some of the best fried food around.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Odom C. Chambers; two brothers, William H. Burns and Charles Burns; and three sisters, Dorothy Taylor, Betty Kampis & Mary L. Graves.
Survivors include her Daughter – Frances C. (Asa) Hartwig; 2 – Grandsons – Bryan R. (Michele) Cain & Gregory (Cindy) Cain; one Great-Grandson – Christopher B. (Jana) Cain; 3 – Great-Granddaughters – Amanda M. Cain, Grace N. Cain & Hope D. Cain; and one Sister – Ann Bowling McClendon.
The family will be receiving friends at the church on Sunday, April 6, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. until the service begins at 3:00 p.m.
