Gussie Stricklin Dyer passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at her residence in Hollywood, Florida, after an extended period of loving care by her daughter and son. Gussie was born and raised in Cullman County and after marrying Coleman J. Dyer, they moved to Miami, Florida, where they raised their family and celebrated 50 years of marriage.
She was blessed to have celebrated her 100th birthday this past September surrounded by her children, many of her grandchildren, many of her great -grandchildren, one great -great grandson and other friends. She was full of life, love and laughter until the moment she parted this life.
She was preceded in death by her husband Coleman "Buck" (age 78), her parents, a sister, a brother and one grandson Sid Dyer. She is survived by her son James Gary Dyer of Washington and daughter Carolyn (Robert) Moneypenny of Hollywood, Florida. She is also survived by a brother Dee Stricklin and a sister Lucille (Dilliard) Williams of Birmingham. Surviving grandchildren are Rodney (Sarah) Dyer of Virginia, Tammy (Chris) Ocasek, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, and Linda (Chris) Campbell of Sebring, Florida. Other grandchildren include Heather, Tristen, Robin, Joshua, Marie Heidi Molner, Tasha and Zachery. Surviving great-grandchildren are Elizabeth, Maeson, Danila, Coleman, Clayton and Cody Campbell, Amanda, Meghan, Kristina, and Sarah Ocasek and great-great Grandson Coleman. Gussie is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Her Christian example, her great love for her family and her amazing humor will be forever missed until we see her again.
Funeral arrangements are as follows; Visitation at 11:00AM, followed by a celebration of life service at 12:00 Noon will be Friday, December 14, at Moss Funeral Home. Due to weather conditions a graveside farewell will also be held at Moss Service. Burial will be at Flint Creek Cemetery where she will rest next to her late husband. Family and friends are invited to meet for lunch at Golden Corral in Cullman following the noon funeral service.
