I want to thank you for  coming to our comfort and aid so many times in the past. You have served so faithfully in the ministry of our church. We love you, and our hearts go out to you.

Death has a sting, but it has not won. My Poppy has gone home to be with the Lord. While I will selfishly miss him dearly, today more than ever I’m praising God for His good, good plan in sending His Son to make a way for us, and I smile because I know Poppy is now happy and whole, celebrating in the presence of his Savior, surrounded by friends and family who’ve gone before him. This hope - incomparable to nothing else. 🙌🏼

These pictures don’t give justice, but I’ll cherish every memory I have of him, and praise God for such a wonderfully full and abundant life he was able to have lived. How many friends he made and lives he has touched. How many stories and poems he’d created. How many golf balls he hit. How many innumerable adventures he had been on. 

Life was not always easy, but he always held a glass (more than) half full. He was a Purple Heart Veteran, and it was very hard to get him to talk about war stories. Instead, he could make anyone laugh at any time and could spontaneously and creatively turn any situation into the most fun you’ve ever had. He made everyone around him hold their head a little higher, laugh a lot harder, and love a lot deeper. 

He loved music; playing that bass guitar and singing alongside my Grandmother while she tore up those ivory keys, with us grandkids singing along, are some of my most cherished memories. 

Above all else, he was a man who fiercely loved his God, his country, and his family like no other. Poppy was a true servant of God in every area of his life, and that has stuck with my more than anything else. His love for his family was more than I could ever even try to describe. Those piercing blue eyes revealed just how much he loved us without having to say a single word. Until we meet again, my Poppy, I love you 💙

Uncle Harold was the best of the best! He was so full of fun and love. I am forever grateful for the time we spent with him and Aunt Faye up on the mountain at Jenny and Alan’s.

Christmas 2021. We always take a "serious" pic followed by a "silly" pic. The silly pics always end up being my favorite!

I spent many nights with my grandparents and the first thing they'd do is drink a cup of coffee to start the day. So I had Poppy his own personalized coffee cup made for Christmas. 

I've never witnessed a more beautiful love than the love of my grandparents! 65 years of marriage. I look up to them in every way possible and can only pray my marriage and faith stay as strong ad theirs.

It was never a question of who was blessing our supper before we ate. Poppy was always so well spoken and eloquent with the prayer.

Loved the Lord, family and all children with all his heart.  We will treasure our memories with Harold and Faye.    Jamie would  act sick (as a child) so he could go “loafering “ with Harold.  He’d drive halfway across TN just to look at a Snake Charmer (gun). He always said “Never let Work interfere with your Golf!”   For  years he and Faye camped in Arizona.  They’d go metal detecting and fish.    They were a big part of their Church, sang in the Church choir, played music with a group from Church and took food and movies  to shut-ins.   What a true testament to us all. 

Cell phones take over the World! Harold got his out to be like all of us.  He’d say “what do you look at on that phone?” Ha! 

Harold & Jamie enjoy the Spring day.  Tim made the walking stick Jamie using. 

Dad loved to sit on the back patio and drink coffee. He watched birds, bees and butterflies. He would ask, "Isn't this great? Look at all the beauty." Then he would raise his coffee cup and toast whoever was there saying, "To your health madam (or sir)!" He wrote this poem in 2016 and his sister-in-law, Joyce Hyde, kept it all these years. I'm not sure what PPFYE stands for, but HEM are his initials.
