Mr. Jacob "J.W." William Knight Sr.

Funeral Services for Mr. Jacob William “J.W.” Knight, Sr., age 84 of Hanceville, will be Tuesday, January 24, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. in the Moss-Service Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Valley Springs Cemetery, with Rev. Bradley McDonald officiating.

Mr. Knight passed away Sunday, January 22, 2012 at Hanceville Nursing Home. He was born to Hazzie and Minnie Tucker Knight on March 31, 1927 in Cullman.

“J.W.” was the Assistant Superintendent for the Cullman County Water Department, a member of Hanceville First Baptist Church, President of the Smith Lake Fox Hunters Association and the President of Cullman County Independent Baseball League.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Rose “Bess” Thompson; one son-in-law, Timothy Thompson; brothers and sisters, Pauline Bice, Ruby Johnson, Forney Knight, Cleo Knight, Bernice Johnson, Cyril Knight and Atkelan Schuman.

Survivors include his Wife of 67 years – Phamie Cooper Knight; two 2 – Daughters – Rebecca (Ralph) Barnett and Jo (Harold) Bales; two 2 – Sons – Jacob (Cindy) Knight, Jr. and Rodell (Crysti) Knight; one Sister – Nellie Speegle; 13 Grandchildren – Phamie Jo (Terry) Brown, Matthew (Sandy) Bales, Monica (Todd) Brown, Zane (Andrea) Barnett, Savannah Thompson, Britton Knight, Bama Dingler, Macey Knight, Jordan Thompson, Taylor Thompson, Ally Knight, Johnathon Webb and Natalie Johnston; 13 Great-Grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home for visitation on Monday, January 23, 2012 from 5:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
