

James Preston "Bud" Hopkins Jr., age 85, entered heaven's gates and met his Lord and Savior, Jesus, on April 30, 2025. Bud was born and raised in Selma, Alabama, where he graduated from Orville High School. He was a faithful servant of Christ, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. He loved his Sunday School Class time as well as his daily breakfasts at the Cracker Barrel and Jack's. Laughter was usually at the forefront with Bud and he so loved sharing time with his family and friends.
A family service and interment is being held at Cullman City Cemetery. The service will be led by Pastor Keith Warden of Northbrook Baptist Church in Cullman and music will be by Doug Seaver of GracePoint Baptist Church, Florette, Alabama. Bud graduated from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa in 1961. After that he worked for General Adjustment Bureau and Auto Owners Insurance as an insurance adjuster for many years before retiring around the year 2000. He and his wife, Delores, enjoyed many years of travel and fun together in their retirement years. They also enjoyed volunteer work through church and the Red Cross.
James Preston "Bud" Hopkins, Jr. is survived by his beloved wife, Delores Brake Hopkins, daughters, Cindy Morrow Seaver (Doug) and Diedre Harbin (Jeff). He is also survived by five grandchildren, Allison Bates (Nathan), April Dean (Brett), Tyler Harbin (Staci Cochran), Marla Nunley (Brian), Hannah Ransom (Bryant) and eight great grandchildren, Kate Preston Bates, Griffin Bates, Graham Dean, Davis Dean, Matthew Nunley, Liam Ransom, Owen Ransom and Tucker Ransom, along with a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Preston Hopkins, Sr. and Willie May Hopkins, sisters and brothers in law, Jenny Kight (B.J.) and Helen Howard (David).
