

Mr. John W. Gober of Cullman died on December 8, 2015, his 88th birthday. He was a retired pharmacist and former owner of Cullman Apothecary. After a stint in the U.S. Navy, he received his pharmacy degree from Howard College (now Samford University).
Mr. Gober was the son of the late Joseph C. and Emmaline Harper Gober of Arab.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Betty McIntosh Gober; 3 brothers: Elvis, J.C., and Barney Gober; sister: Effie G. Nolen; and his beloved dog, Mikey.
He is survived by his wife: Diane Gober of Cullman; son: Dr. Rick Gober (Igeana) of Cullman; granddaughters: Courtnay Gober of Atlanta, Georgia and O’Neal Gober of Birmingham; stepson: Ricky Self of Holly Pond; niece: JoAnn Pittman of Arab; and nephew: Terry Gober of Lafayette, Georgia; sister-in-law: Muriel Gober of Montgomery.
He was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church of Cullman.
A celebration of his life will be held at Moss Service Funeral Home of Cullman on December 9 at 2 pm. Brother Mitchell Williams will officiate. Visitation with family will be held from 12 pm – 2 pm with burial at Cullman City Cemetery.
