

John was born in Moultrie, GA in 1941. He attended St. Bernard College in Cullman and graduated with a BA in American Literature and Library Science. He received his MSLS from Catholic University of America, in Library and information Science.
John worked for the Alabama Development Office (ADO) as a Resource Contact for Economic Growth and Development in Alabama for over 20 years. He was Editor of numerous ADO and ADECA publications. John published many publications and bibliographies for the State of Alabama that are housed in the Library of Congress. John won awards for his Research and Efforts in establishing Bibliographical Control of State, Regional/County and Local Government Documentation.
John was an avid reader of Philosophy and Theology books. He particularly enjoyed working with the Vocation and Recruitment Program at St. Bernard Abbey. Also among his interest were sports and current events.
John is survived by his wife of six years, Judy Burke, three daughters; Ivey Cummings (James) of Ontario, CAN, Marcie Peake (Richard) of Montgomery, AAL and Laurie Hosea of Castle Rock, CO. He had 3 brothers: William B. Worsham (twin, deceased), Earl Blanton, Moultrie, GA, and Dr. Richard E. Worsham (Delane) of Niceville, FL. an aunt, Jane Elliott, Haleburg. John had five wonderful grandchildren.
He was a loving husband and devoted father. John had many virtues; he was a great listener, empathizer, and always anxious to serve others with a generous spirit. His daily motto was “What have you done for others today.”
Funeral Service will be Monday, November 30th, at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church. Officiating the service will be Rev. Patrick Egan, O.S.B. and Rev. Marcus Voss, O.S.B.
Rosary Service will be at 9:15 AM in the church preceding the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Bernard Abbey, 1600 St. Bernard, SE, Cullman, AL 35055.
