Mr. Gentry was a special person who made everyone feel special— a wonderful man!

Larry was a warm sweet person. They don't come any better. He was kind to all he come in contact with.  God received another angle.

Miss seeing him at Tobacco store & outside his house he was a kind & gentle man may he rest in God’s hands. Praying for family.

Seeing him and Mrs. Gentry every day when I went to work became the highlight of my day. They never failed to put a smile on my face and make my day great.  Mr. Gentry always asked me how I was doing and if I had a good day. He is one of the most kind hearted people I’ve  ever met. He was a great man and will be deeply missed.

Larry and Jackie are very dear to my heart.  I grew up on the softball fields at Good Hope during the summers and you could always count on them to be there supporting the teams.  Larry will be missed, Jackie you are in my thought and prayers.  Love you both.

Great loss to all the family and the community a great man who loved driving the bus and loved kids. My deepest condolences to Jackie and the family.

Mr. Gentry was mine and my sister's neighbor and bus driver for many years on 222. We were his first stop in the mornings and his last stop in the afternoons. We spent a lot of time on that bus with him and I have found memories of his spirit and smiles. He was a kind man. I had recently saw him in the pharmacy I work at last week, and was glad to. I asked him if he remembered me and he said he did and we talked and I got to see his smile kne last time. I'm happy for that. 

One memory that I'm fond of- is one day  I had left my back brace at school (I had scoliosis) and was upset because I knew I would be in trouble for forgetting it. He, seeing I was upset, offered to take me back up to the school after he dropped everyone off so I could get it before going home. However, all the doors to the classroom had been locked, so i wasn't able to get the brace. But the fact that he did that for me meant so much, and has stuck with me for all of these years. I will never forget it, or him. R.I.P. Mr. Gentry


I grew up close by to Mr. Gentry. Because of that, my sister and I were the first ones he picked up in the morning and the last ones he dropped off- which meant we got to spend almost two extra hours with him daily before and after school. His warm smile and conversation always made our commute not only tolerable- but enjoyable. He was also family, and even though distantly related, I feel blessed to have lived so closely to him and to have shared all those (super long) bus rides. RIP and prayers for Jackie and family. 

I enjoyed riding his bus to and from vocational every day... he always talked to us like we mattered.... He made me laugh so many times... He will be missed!!!!

Dear Gentry Family,

I am saddened to hear of Larry's passing. He and Jackie will be remembered fondly as two of the nicest people I ever met at Good Hope School during my time as a student and afterwards when we saw each other. The family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
