Larry DeWayne Guest

Larry Guest, age 85, of Cullman, Alabama passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2025. Larry was born on February 20, 1940, to James Irby and Elsie Inez Loftin Guest in Geraldine, Alabama. Besides his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his beautiful wife of 47 years, Mary Anne Pettey Guest, whom Larry referred to as his very best friend and Super Mom.

Larry loved and was very proud of both of his sons, Chad and Shane. In fact, on a recent text this Father’s Day Larry told the boys he considered himself to be “very happy and blessed as a father”. Of course, he loved and enjoyed spending time with his daughter-in-laws, Bridgette and Kristi and his grandchildren, Carter (Madelyn), Faith, Shana, Isabella, Mason, Braylon and Libby.

Some of Larry’s favorite pastimes included camping with Mary Anne, his boys and grandchildren; singing and listening to gospel quartet music; bowling with Mary Anne and friends; watching Alabama football; talking with his sister, Jane Sampson, nearly everyday; and walking and talking with friends at the Senior Adult Center in Cullman.

Larry was an accountant for several businesses including Marshall Durbin, Agri Business, and Lansing. He then went to work for, and retired from Holmes Oil Company.

Larry was a beloved husband, dad, grandpa, and friend to everyone who knew him. He was always “thinking positive” and when asked how he was doing, he responded with “two thumbs up.” He will be dearly missed. We love you Dad and Grandpa.

Visitation will take place at Moss Service Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday June 29, 2025, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM with Dr. Edwin Hayes officiating. Interment will be in Cullman City Cemetery.
