Mrs. Bates was born on January 1, 1957, in Birmingham, AL., to Charles and Barbara Gibson. She was a 1975 graduate of Banks High School. She retired in 2004 after a long career with the Social Security Administration, having served the agency in Birmingham, AL; Frankfort, KY; and Cullman, AL.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Glenn Bates; parents, Charles and Barbara Gibson; and a sister, Lisa Deerman.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Jennifer Lynne (Ambra) Minks; step-sons Clay Bates (Robin); and Steve Bates (Mary); step-daughter Glenda Bates; and step-grandchildren: Mindy Sheppard, Jamie Cisco, Britney Bates, Nicholas Bates, and Maggie Bates; and her great-grandchildren Alyssa, Kye, Maliyah, and Kamryn; nephew, Chip (Krissy) Deerman; 3 great nephews: Axel, Christian, and Kaylee Deerman and a host of other family members and friends.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, from 12:00 noon until the Celebration of Lynne's life, which will begin at 2:00 P.M. at Moss Service Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Cullman City Cemetery.
