Mrs. Parmenter passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at U.A.B. Hospital. She was born on July 30, 1930 in Hot Springs, South Dakota to the late Theodore Leon Birdsall, Sr. and Ada Gertrude Clason Birdsall. Also preceded in death by a brother , Theodore Leon Birdsall, Jr.
Mary, affectionately known as “Miss Mary”, touched many lives through the years. She loved to travel, first moving around the country with her husband Pete, and later to Europe and Mexico. Making friends everywhere she went, she had no trouble finding someone to accompany her, to indulge in one of her passions – shopping! She was a poet, and a painter, enjoyed yoga classes and enjoyed food of all types. They wintered in south Texas, where she was a member of the “Red Hat Society”, and was always ready for an adventure, but not if it interfered with her “show” “The Young and the Restless”. She belonged to Christ Lutheran Church, where she was part of the “Louise Club” (sorry Louis, ladies only !) Mary had a great sense of humor and a smile that could light up the world.
Survivors include her Husband – Peter Miles Parmenter; 3 – Daughters – Deanne Renteria, Pat (Chuck) Gilbert and Karen (James) Fletcher; 2 – Sons – Michael (Mary Lou) Parmenter and Roger (Barb) Parmenter; a Twin Sister – Betty Hertha; 2 – Brothers – Tom (Janice) Birdsall and Joe (Debbie) Birdsall; 16 – Grandchildren and 21 – Great-Grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
