Roy William Richter

Funeral services for Roy William Richter, 85, of Cullman will be Thursday May 28, 2015 at 11:00 am at St. John’s Evangelical Protestant Church with Rev. Dr. John Richter officiating with burial in Cullman City Cemetery.
Mr. Richter died May 26, 2015 at his home. He was born to Otto Frank and Louise Marie Schwann Richter. He was in business with his father and brothers and formed several businesses including O.F. Richter and Sons, Richter Brothers Distributing Co, Jasper Decorating Center and Decatur Decorating Center. Mr. Richter was a former director on the board of Cullman Savings Bank.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Arthur, Frank, Hubert and Clarence and his sister Evelyn.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Margaret M. Kinney Richter, 2 sons Roy Edward Richter and William Ted (Fharis) Richter; 4 daughters, Maria (Don) Schultz, Helen (Terry) Kent, Ellen (Rick) Fulmer and Jayne Richter Wells. Twelve grandchildren, Jeremy (Traci) Jester, Brandi (Stephen) Phillips, Shanna (Jerrid) Thornton, Nathan (Jennifer) Richter, Quintin Richter, Morganne Richter, Yvette (Jason) Grimmett, Nikki (Bobby) Higdon, Erik (Sirinya) Lee, Michael (Amanda) Lee, Calvin Wells and Kathryne (Chris) Striker. Nine great grandchildren, Julia and Alice Jester, Caleb Glover, Abbie Richter, Anna Richter, Sophie Williams, McKayla Lee and Kaden Lee.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to St. John’s Church (BTN) or Hospice of Cullman County.
Visitation will be Wednesday May 27, 2015 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Moss Service Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be: Jeremy Jester, Erik Lee, Calvin Wells, Michael Lee, Nathan Richer, Quintin Richter and Brandon Richter. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Stephen Phillips, Jerrid Thornton, Jason Grimmett, Bobby Higdon, Chris Striker.
