

Funeral services , with military honors, for Wayne Sticher, 91, will be held at 12 noon, Thursday, August 13 from Moss-Service Funeral Home Chapel, Bro. Del Brock officiating. Burial will follow at Cullman City Cemetery. Mr. Sticher passed away on Monday, August 10 at Cullman Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Cullman County on March 25, 1924 to John Manuel and Kittie Jenkins Sticher. He graduated from Cullman High School in 1943. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and in the Air Force during the Korean War. He graduated from Birmingham Southern College in 1951.
In 1947, he met and married Ruth Dean. They were married for 58 years. He was dearly loved by his family and will be greatly missed.
Mr. Sticher was a member of Cullman Church of Christ, where he formerly served as a deacon and teacher. He worked as the manager of the Bell Telephone Office in Cullman and retired after 30 years with them in 1982. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club for many years and served as President of that organization. He also was a member of the Cullman City Council, where he served on the Utility Board, the Gas Board, and NARCOG.
Mr. Sticher loved his family, classical music, the Alabama Crimson Tide, and the Atlanta Braves. He kept up with the current events of his town of Cullman, his state of Alabama, and his country. He also loved his coffee buddies at the All Steak for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Kittie Sticher, his wife, Ruth, and his brothers, Carl and Dwight.
He is survived by his son, Dean Sticher, his daughter Amy Sticher Campen and her husband, Jay, his granddaughters, Sarah and Laura Campen and his sister, Alene and her husband, Charles Rigby.
