Mr. William James Lanier

Funeral services for Mr. William James Lanier, age 66 of Cullman, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Norman, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Sacred Heart, Oklahoma, with Father Manesco officiating.

William passed away on August 23, 2010 at his residence. He was born on February 19, 1944 in Oklahoma to William Richard Lanier and Margaret Zoeller Lanier. He was a twenty two year veteran of the United States Army, and after his retirement, his free time was spent reading and he became “The Great Do It Yourselfer”. He is preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include his Wife of 31 years, Carol Lanier; one Daughter – Toniese (James) Bailey; Mother – Margaret Zoeller Lanier; two Sisters – Bernice Lanier and Mary Ann (Clyde) Shatley; one Granddaughter – Danielle Bailey and numerous Nieces and Nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home here in Cullman on Thursday, August 26, 2010 from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

The family request donations be made in Lieu-of-Flowers to your local Shriners organization in memory of William James Lanier.
