

Agnes Elizabeth Madigan, 98 years young, passed away peacefully at her home with family surrounding her on August 8, 2021.
Agnes enjoyed sewing and crafts, leaving behind many quilts and projects for her family to enjoy. Her greatest joy was to be surrounded by her family and friends. Agnes enjoyed many trips across the country to visit extended family and friends she met through her work and her husband’s service in WWII.
Agnes began her career with the U.S. Government in 1942 as a file clerk, a typist and then a secretary for the National Capital Housing Authority in Washington, D.C. She later transferred to the U.S. Geological Survey Department in McLean, Va. and later the department moved to Reston, Va. Agnes retired from the U.S. Geological Survey in 1982 with 30 years of service to the United States Government.
Agnes was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Joseph Thomas Madigan and her sister Dorthy Butler. She is survived by her brother, Deedie Andrew Boarwright, Jr. and her daughters, Jo Ann Slate and Pamela Frankel and her husband Edward. Agnes leaves behind six grandchildren, David and Jenny Teitelbaum, John Stallings, James and Jocie Stallings, Jenna Stalings Bates, Lori and Jon Sussman and Amy and Vincent Ferrand. Agnes and Joe were blessed with twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; Stacy and Edward Sonifrank, Daniel and Taeylor Teitelbaum, Brian Teitelbaum, Eric Teitelbaum, Jonathon Stallings, Wyatt Stallings, Parker Stallings, Cameron Sheads, Tommy Stallings, Jake Stallings, Andrew Sussman, Emilie Ferrand, Ella Sonifrank and Lee Sonifrank.
A memorial service will be held at Clore English Funeral Home, 11190 James Monroe Highway, Culpeper, VA Thursday, Aug 12, 2021at 11:00 a.m.
THE FAMILY HAS REQUESTED THAT THOSE ATTENDING THE FUNERAL SERVICE WEAR A FACEMASK.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 11th from 6:00 p.m. -8:00 p.m. at Clore English Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
