Anne was predeceased by her parents, her sister Jean Fischer (Mark), her brother Ray Kidd (Joy), her brother-in-law Linwood, and her sister-in-law Charlotte.
Anne was born at Fauquier Hospital on 21 June 1945 as the second child and first daughter of Alford D. and Virginia Kidd. As a child, she was raised in Nokesville, VA on a farm and, under her mother’s tutelage, excelled in 4-H. Upon graduating high school, she attended business school. Having trained as a bookkeeper, she began working at Southern States where she met her future husband, William R. Walker, Jr. (Billy). Billy and Anne were married on 16 September 1967 in Prince William, Virginia and took up residence in Batna in Culpeper County where they raised their family.
While raised with exposure to both the Methodist and Baptist faiths, Anne became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1973 and remained a faithful sister in the congregation until her death. While Anne loved all of her family, she especially loved her grandchildren – and her flowers. Her all-time favorite flower was the bleeding heart, but she was not too partial as peonies, pansies, roses, daffodils, tiger lilies, and tulips all were abundant in her flower gardens. Anything that might attract a hummingbird was fair game to be planted. Her favorite grandchild – well that was always going to be whomever needed the most nurturing, attention, food, or toys at any given time. She retired from her favorite job as a USPS mail carrier in the early 2000s in order to spend time with her first grandchild.
Anne cherished caring for young children - from helping raise her younger siblings through to helping with as many of her grandchildren as she could. Her pride in the accomplishments and the compassionate natures of Briana, Eli, Annika, Declan, Lacy, and Colton was readily apparent to her friends to whom she had the joy of bragging. In recent years, her favorite time of day was when the youngest grandchild would come and take her for a walk outside or play games with her. We hope that each can bring their unique perspectives to honoring her legacy of caring through their desire to not only take care of others but also to take care of the land. While we will miss our wife, mother, and grandmother, we know she is no longer in pain and rests safely in our and God’s memory.
