

Betty Lee Colbert Carter, 94, of Culpeper, Virginia, passed away peacefully at Our Father’s House Christian Home in Culpeper, VA, July 29, 2025. She was born in Manassas, Virginia, on February 12, 1931.
Betty is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert “Bobby” Ellsworth Carter; her parents, Clarence and Vernie Colbert, and two sisters, Doris Jones and Barbara Keith. She is survived by her sister Darlene Hawkins; four children, Roberta L. Carow, Robert E. Carter and wife Kimberley, Carol A. Tilton and husband Mike, and Robin L. McAllister; ten grandchildren, Brittney Vallot and husband Josh, Matthew Carter, Daniel Carter, Lauren Carter, Drew Adams, Bryan Tilton and wife Erin, Jessica Blanton and husband Jon, Michelle Secord and husband Hunter, Ryan McAllister and wife Amy, and Megan Wilkinson and husband Christian; ten great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Reva, VA, and previously Providence Baptist Church, Tysons Corner, Virginia. She was an adored daycare provider nurturing many children through the years. She dearly loved her family and friends, selflessly providing them with unwavering love, care, and devotion. She embodied the phrase, “to know her is to love her.” She will be deeply missed.
A viewing will be held at Clore-English Funeral Home (11190 James Monroe Highway, Culpeper, VA) Tuesday, August 5, 6:00pm – 8:00pm. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 6, 11:00am also at Clore-English Funeral Home. Her family will lay her to rest at National Memorial Park, Falls Church, VA.
