

Brenda Faye Trout (née Russell), 79, of Brightwood, Virginia, passed away on March 10, 2026, at UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville, Virginia. Born on October 12, 1946, in Maryville, Tennessee, she was the beloved daughter of the late Robert and Nora Mae Russell.
Brenda devoted much of her life to creating a warm and loving home as a stay-at-home mother, always putting her family first. Over the years, she also brought her dedicated spirit to the workforce, enjoying her time at Aberdeen Barn and Sun Superfresh.
She is now reunited in passing with her beloved husband of many years, William Halbert Trout Jr.; her parents, Robert and Nora Mae; her sister, Wanda Caldwell; her brother, Ralph Russell; and her first grandson, Rayshawn Howington.
Her beautiful legacy lives on through her children, Sherry Banks, Alice Cubbage, and Randall Dillingham-Trout. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren, Kimberly Howington, Ricky Nelson Howington, and Jonathan Cubbage; her great-grandchildren, Aalaya, K’Lynn, Elijah, and Oaklyn Penn, and Izaak and Xander Howington; her sisters, Doris Crowe, Helen Lewis, Renda Caldwell, Shirley Newman, and Evelyn Hubbard; her sister-in-law, Wanda Shifflett; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members who loved her dearly.
To honor Brenda’s life and the loved ones she leaves behind in both states, the family will hold two gatherings:
Virginia Services:
A memorial service will be held on March 21, 2026, at 11:00 AM at New Salem Baptist Church in Culpeper, VA.
Tennessee Services:
A funeral service will be held on March 28, 2026, at 11:30 AM at Berry Highland West, 9913 Sherrill Blvd., Knoxville, TN 37932. Following this service, she will be laid to rest with her beloved husband at the East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Knoxville.
