Obituary of Carrie Payne Breeden
Carrie Alice Payne Breeden, 86, wife of the late Jesse Lewis Breeden, passed away February 14, 2019 at Uva-Culpeper Hospital. She was born on February 1, 1933 in Orange County to Lloyd Rivers Payne and Fannie Suder Payne. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mrs. Breeden was a Life Member of Reva Fire and Rescue Company #16 and the Culpeper Baptist Church. She was a hard worker; she went to work at the age of 12 for a small grocery store (50 cents a week), then moved on to other jobs, ending with Glen Fair Price in order to help get through school. After moving back to Culpeper, she worked at a few different jobs, ending with Clarke Hardware, where she worked for 27 years before she retired at age 82 because the store closed at that time. Mrs. Breeden is survived by her stepchildren who she loved as if they were her own. They are stepdaughters, Rhonda Breeden Yim and Sheri Breeden Tanner and husband Rusty Tanner; grandsons, Eric Yim and Brian Tanner and wife Kimberly; great-grandsons, Brayden and Gannon Tanner, sister-in-law Frances Payne, nieces and nephews and close friends, Bonnie Keys and Bonnie’s granddaughters. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Breeden was preceded in death by four brothers and their wives, John Payne (Ruby); Robert Payne (Joyce), Charles “Buddy” Payne (Louise), Donald Payne; her son-in-law, Peter Yim; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
