January 27, 1944September 4, 2019

Charles S. Berry, 75, died September 4, 2019 at UVA Novant here in his native Culpeper, Virginia. "Charlie" was a son of the late Shelton and Josephine Berry. Charlie treasured 55 years of marriage to Frances Carter Berry who survives him, along with their two children Anita and Alan. Charlie is also survived by his daughter-in-law Kim Berry and his beloved granddaughters Emily and Sarah, the treasure of their Gigi's eyes. He is also survived by his sister Margaret Seale (Roy).

Charlie is preceded in death by his siblings, Hazel Berry, Robert "Buck" Berry, Claude Berry, and Betty Ann Fukushima.

Charlie harnessed his hard work ethic, mechanical expertise and appreciation of helping people while operating, with his beloved wife, Berry's Gulf, Berry's Chevron and ultimately Berry's Tire and Automotive from which he retired in 2018 after decades of integrity focused service to the Culpeper community.

Graveside services for Charlie will be held at Fairview Cemetery on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Culpeper Humane Society, P.O. Box 1032, Culpeper, VA 22071 in Charlie's memory.

Frances, Nita, and Alan,
You all are in my thoughts and prayers. I am so saddened by this news. There are many fond memories over the years. Dylan still has his "Charlie Bear" that Charlie gave him many years ago. I could list several. It is my prayer that you all will be comforted with fond memories and peace in your heart, knowing he is no longer sick. He is made brand new again!

Charlie and Frances were the first friends we made when we moved to Culpeper in 2007. Charlie has to be the kindest man we ever met. He helped us whenever needed- jumping my daughter's car battery on Christmas Eve, lending us his lawn mover, and always without question and with a smile. He loved his family and his dog, Ada, so very much. Charlie also made us laugh and we have shared a joke about Natural Light for years. The last thing I did with Charlie is watch the Nats play baseball. We will miss him more than words can express. We are grateful to have known him and shared in his life. We are happy he is resting in peace- a life well-lived.

I am proud to have known Mr. Berry. I can always remember every time I ran into him he had a warm gentle smile and demeanor that could not be replicated. Mr. Berry is without any pain now and is enjoying the gift of heaven. God bless you Charlie, you will be missed.
