David Wayne Ramey Sr.

David Wayne Ramey Sr., born on March 3, 1945, in Hayfield, Virginia, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2025, at the age of 80, surrounded by family at INOVA Fairfax Hospital. He was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

David, affectionately known as “Papaw” by his family, was a telephone installer for over 40 years. A true family man, he loved the outdoors and NASCAR, always lent a helping hand, and never met a stranger. He was known as our “fixer upper” and often said, “It’s good enough for Rixeyville.”

David is survived by his loving wife Sarah of 61 years, his brothers Philip (Linda) and Richard, and his sister Sharon (Tom). He leaves behind his sons, Wayne (Tammy) and Scott, as well as his grandchildren, Anthony, Samantha, Heather (Brandon), and Kristen (Max). His legacy continues with his great-grandchildren, Jaxson, Rayna, Declan, Reed, and a new blessing expected in December. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his father, Linden Russell Ramey, Sr. and mother Maxine Vivian Link Ramey in addition to two brothers, Robert and Linden, Jr..

A graveside service will be held at Hillcrest Memory Gardens, located at 4160 Rixeyville Road, Jeffersonton, Virginia, on November 14, 2025, at 12:00 pm.
