

Dean Paul Virag, age 52, passed away September 2, 2021 at the UVA Medical Center. Born December 9, 1968 Dean was born in New Jersey to John J. Virag and Margaret Palancsa Virag and made his career as a software consultant and trainer. Aside from his work, Dean enjoyed playing golf, listening to music, learning to play the guitar and playing computer games when he had free time. His greatest love was spending time with his kids, particularly cheering them on during their sporting events. He also enjoyed cooking, watching soccer & movies, travel and meals with friends and family. He was a wonderful partner to his wife in raising the children, taking care of the household and all of life’s ups and downs. He will be missed by all for his quick wit, creativity, generosity, sincerity, boisterous laughs and “squishy” hugs!
Surviving Dean is his wife Mariam Virag of Culpeper, VA, his children; Charles, Benjamin, and Abigail; step-daughter Meghan Knittle, step-granddaughter Alexis Knittle; Brothers Peter Virag and Edward (Sharon) Virag; nephews and nieces Michael (Ashley), Daniel, Ryan and Maggie Virag; uncle Alex (Pat) Palmer; and cousins Rosemary, Kathy & Jeff. He is also survived by many members of his extended family including cousins, nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly. In addition to his parents, Dean is preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Virag.
Two times of visitation will be held Wednesday, September 8, 2021 in the Clore-English Funeral Home Chapel, 11190 James Monroe Highway, Culpeper. Times are 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., with a Rosary Service at 2:00 p.m., and 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with the Liturgy of the Word Service at 7:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, September 9, 2021 at Precious Blood Catholic Church, 114 E. Edmondson Street, Culpeper at 10:30 a.m. A reception will follow the Funeral Mass in the Parish Hall.
Interment will be held Friday, September 10, 2021 in Augusta Memorial Park, 1775 Goose Creek Road, Waynesboro, VA at 2:00 p.m.
