Parkinson’s disease on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Our Father’s House, Brandy Station, VA surrounded
by her family and friends.
Doris was a devoted farmers wife, homemaker and mother to her children. She loved cooking, baking
(especially her sweet rolls). She attended and a member of Stevensburg Baptist Church, where she
taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and a member of the WMU. Doris was a member of Lignum-
Stevensburg Homemakers. In high school Doris became a member of the 4-H club where she achieved
her All-Stars. She continued to be involved with 4-H through her adult life alongside her family. She was
an advocate, teacher, volunteer and supporter of The CMR Farm show. Doris loved to work with her
hands to include knitting, needlepoint, and cross-stitching to share with others.
Doris was proceeded in death by her parents, James and Berta Estes and one sister, Louise E. Hackney.
Doris leaves behind her beloved husband of 60 years Gregory A. Smith. Her children Todd (Marcie)
Smith and Tammy Kelly. Sisters; Jean Beall and Katherine Estes. Four grandchildren; Zachary, Derek,
Savannah and Madalyn. Two great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Doris also had a special
lifelong best friend who stayed by her Dorothy Walker.
Family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Monday, May 20, 2024 at Clore-English Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at Stevensburg Baptist Church with
Pastor Jason Walker and Pastor Phillip Walker officiating. Pallbearers; Derek Cotton, Scott Smith, Lewis
Walker, Joe Van Wingerden, Johnny Inskeep, Ted Gore, Rusty Crowe and Dave Durr.
