Harriet Rutherford Poulos

Harriet Rutherford Poulos, 94, of Culpeper, VA passed away November 8, 2023 in The Harbor at Renaissance, Stanardsville, VA November 8, 2023. She was born Harriet Rachel Lewis Rutherford to Charles Rutherford and Nora Afton Rutherford in Tazwell, VA March 2, 1929. She is survived by her son Steven Poulos and his wife Pamela, ten nieces and two nephews. Mrs. Poulos is preceded in death by her parents; her husband George Harry Poulos, Jr.; three sisters, Virginia (George) Ashbury, Ethel (Henry) McCauley and Grace (Gerald) Shaffer; four brothers, Carl (Elsie) Rutherford, A.P. Rutherford, William (Rebecca) Rutherford and Leonard (Jane) Rutherford. Mrs. Poulos worked for C&P Telephone Company as a Manager’s Clerk for over 30 years. She started with the company out of high school, transferring to Culpeper and worked in Northern Virginia. She loved her church, Alum Spring Baptist Church, where she was lifelong member, serving as a Sunday School teacher for 30 years, was a member of the choir and served on numerous church committees. Harriet was also a Cub Scout Den Mother, an elementary school reading assistant, a food server at Manna Ministry and an overnight chaperone for the Homeless Shelter. A visitation for Harriet will be held Wednesday, November 15, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Alum Spring Baptist Church, 11058 Dutch Hollow Rd,, Culpeper, VA. The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, in the church. Interment will be in Culpeper Masonic Cemetery, 1012 North Main Street, Culpeper, VA 22701.
