Herman Gary Burris

Herman Gary Burris, 81, of Culpeper, VA passed away in UVA-Hospital, Charlottesville on October 8, 2018. He was born September 5, 1937 in Kansas to Ivyl and Freida Burris. He spent more than 40 years in the Marysville California area, where he faithfully served as a teacher and at Grace Baptist Church. He will be remembered for expressing Jesus’ love through acts of service. He enjoyed woodworking, viewing wildlife, and watching the San Francisco Giants. Surviving Mr. Burris is his wife of 56 years, Geniene Burris; his children, Craig Burris and his wife Michelle, and Tanya Brooking and her husband Richard; his siblings, Doyle Burris and Trevis Burris; his grandchildren, Emily Geary (Wayne), Sam Burris (Kaitlyn), Lila Bender (Winston), Claire Burris, Jesse Burris and Will Harrison-Burris and his great-grandchildren, Elena Geary, Troy Geary, Vivienne Geary, Grant Bender and Andrew Bender. He is preceded in death by his parents, a great-grandchild Aurora Michelle Geary and siblings Maxine Carroll, Ivyl, and Dale Burris. A Celebration of Mr. Burris’ Life will be held Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 4 PM in the Culpeper Baptist Church Worship Center with Pastor Tom Friedrichs.
