James B. Sykes

James “Jim” Bradford Sykes went to be with the Lord on February 18, 2014, at the age of 74. He was born in Williamsburg, WV, to the late Issac and Pearl Viers Sykes. He is preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

Jim was a loving husband to his wife of 48 years, Lillian “Lee” Crawford Sykes, a loving Pops to his son Brad Sykes and wife Missy, and a loving PopPop to four grandsons; Thomas and fiancé Shana, Michael, Damian and fiancé Shelby, and Jeremy, who he loved dearly. He is also survived by a sister (in law), Bonnie Cobb and husband Don of Lawrenceburg, TN, brothers (in law); Curtis Crawford of Rochelle, VA and friend Deb Birkett of Madison, VA, Opie Ray Crawford and wife Nancy of Sperryville, VA and numerous nieces and nephews who he loved very much and special loved ones; Betty Crawford and Lisa White.

Jim worked for Arlington Public Schools for 27 years and Fauquier Public Schools for four years, was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and loved the Lord. He had many dear and special friends who touched his life. He enjoyed music and loved to sing when he wasn’t fishing or travelling. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, 6262 Hoover Road, Reva, VA, with a time of visitation one hour prior to services. Pastors Adam Meisberger and Alex Odell will officiate. Interment will follow services in the church cemetery.
