

Kurt was preceded in death by his father, John Louis Streu, and beloved brother Jon Adam Streu. He is survived by his wife, Sam who was his partner and best friend; his three sons, Jon, Louis, and Andrew Streu, who brought immense joy and pride to his life; his mother, Patricia Streu, who instilled in him the values of love and kindness and his two German Shepherds Scoobie and Shaggy.
As a dedicated Culinary Instructor, Kurt taught in both Orange County and Rappahannock County public schools for 20 years, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of his students. Kurt was a talented chef who brought people together through the joy of food. His passion of teaching and sharing how to cook with others was a reflection of his generous soul. He had an admirable ability to inspire and motivate others which made him a treasure amongst all.
Kurt's legacy extends far beyond his family and colleagues. He inspired everyone who knew him with his kindness and compassion. His memory will live on through the countless lives he touched, and his impact will continue to be felt in the communities where he served.
The family invites friends, previous students, and loved ones to share their memories and stories of Kurt's life, as they celebrate his time with them and mourn his passing.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Blue Ridge Catholic Church in Madison, Va on Saturday August 30th at 12pm. Light refreshments and time to speak with family will be available immediately following Mass in the Reception Hall at the Church.
