Leilani Patricia Vain Brooks, 84, of Boston, Virginia, died Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at Morningside Assisted Living, Charlottesville, Virginia. She was born May 1, 1934, to Thelma Elizabeth Webb and Neal John Vain in Honolulu, Oahu, Territory of Hawaii.
She grew up in Fairfax, Virginia. She loved climbing trees and horseback riding. She was captain of the chess team, and a member of the National Honor Society while she attended Fairfax High School. In October 1953, she married Charles Alden Brooks of Wichita, Kansas, when he was stationed at Fort Belvoir, VA, and are the proud parents of four children. Leilani was a loving daughter, wife, and mother. She was always putting others’ needs before her own and her kindness was infectious.
Survivors include two sons, Lyle Brooks (Natalie Brooks) of Arlington, Virginia and Neal Brooks of Culpeper, Virginia, two daughters Evelyn Brooks of Culpeper, Virginia and Pamela Brooks of Huntsville, Alabama, and ten grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband, Charles Brooks; her mother, Thelma Vain, and her father Neal Vain.
A funeral service for Leilani Brooks will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 420 Willow Lawn Drive, Culpeper, VA. 22701 at 11:00 a.m. , Saturday February 23, 2019. Interment will be in The Culpeper National Cemetery, 305 US Avenue, Culpeper, Va. 22701 at 12:00 p.m., Monday February 25, 2019.
