Loretta Jones Brown

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Loretta Jones Beahm Brown on July 3, 2026, at the age of 83. Loretta was born in the charming town of Gordonsville, Virginia on February 16, 1943, to Robert Earl Jones and Della Catherine Jones, both of whom predeceased her. She was also preceded in death by her beloved sister, Lois Reva Bluff.

Loretta was a woman of strength, compassion, and boundless energy. She spent her childhood in Madison County, attending Madison County High School, where she was known for her infectious smile and delightful sense of humor. After school, Loretta embarked on a career that saw her excel in customer service, retiring from Giant Food Store in 2009. Her colleagues and customers alike cherished her friendly demeanor and remarkable ability to spread joy, often with a quick-witted joke.

Loretta's life was rich with love and family. She was first married to Floyd William Beahm and later found love again with John M. Brown Jr., with whom she made a warm and welcoming home in Culpeper, Virginia. Together, they shared a deep love for country music, dancing, and the simple pleasures of life.

A devoted mother and grandmother, Loretta, is survived by her two daughters, Teresa Pugh and her husband Wayne, and Tammy Cooke. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Krystal Simons, Cathy Davis, Kelly Colvin, J.C. Cooke, and Andrew Cooke, as well as nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandsons. She is survived by her sister Gertha Lillard and husband Jim of Madison Virginia and brother Jerry Jones and wife Laura of Oak Park Virginia. Each of them carries forward the values and love she instilled in them.

Loretta had many passions. She loved gardening and took great pride in her beautifully kept lawn, often being the first to mow it with a professional touch. Her well-tended home was a gathering place where she enjoyed hosting family dinners and bringing loved ones together through her cooking. She also enjoyed playing cards, reading, and watching favorite shows such as The Golden Girls, Jeopardy, and The Young and the Restless. Whether sipping hot coffee with something sweet or relaxing at the beach with seafood and a cocktail, Loretta embraced life’s simple joys.

The family invites friends and loved ones to attend a memorial service in her honor on July 14, 2026, at 5:00 PM at Clore English Funeral Home, located at 11190 James Monroe Highway, Culpeper, Virginia. Following this, a Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Noon at The Grange in Radiant, Virginia. In keeping with Loretta's vibrant spirit, attendees are encouraged to wear her favorite colors—pink or coral for the ladies and any shade of blue for the gentlemen.

Loretta's life was a testament to love, laughter, and the enduring power of family. Her memory will forever be cherished by all who knew her, and her spirit will continue to inspire us to live with joy and kindness.
