
Margaret Kincer Alther “Sammie”, 92, of Culpeper passed away at Culpeper Regional Hospital, Sunday, August 3, 2014. Mrs. Alther was born in Culpeper County, VA March 18, 1922 to Hugh M. Kincer and Frances Josephine Copenhaver Kincer; graduated from Brandy Station High School; worked in the Lake Ridge School System in Gary, Indiana , returned to Culpeper working at The White Shop until retirement and was a member of the Culpeper United Methodist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Alther are her children, Sandra Alther Brown and her husband Mac, Karen Alther Mills and her husband Earl, Marsha Alther Rutherford and her husband Joseph and Jeff Alther and his wife Susan; her grandchildren, who called her Mama Dee; Christina Mills-Gimbel and her husband Lloyd, Steve Mills and his wife Melissa, Carmen B. Burgess and her husband Cory, Erin M. Joiner and her husband Jason, Adam Rutherford, Willow Lynn Alther and Lewis Thomas Alther; her great-grandchildren, Eddie Gimbel, Jackson Gimbel, Ryan Gimbel, Parker Burgess, Allison Burgess and Jacob Mills; and her siblings, Thelma Curtis, George Kincer, Hugh M. Kincer, Jr. and Ethel Hutcherson. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband Thomas Henry Alther.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at 11: a.m. in the chapel of Clore-English Funeral Home with Rev. Norma Jean Fellows conducting the service. Interment will be in the Culpeper National Cemetery, Chandler Street.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 5, 2014 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Clore-English Funeral Home.
