Martha was a beloved wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend and trusted confidant, neighbor, and sister to seven siblings. She will be remembered for her absolute devotion to her family, vibrant energy, twinkle in her eye, and her incredible warmth and kindness.
Born on January 14, 1941 in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, Martha spent her life raising a family and sharing her kindness with everyone she encountered. She worked as Deputy Treasurer for the City of Manassas Park while doting on her very large family. Her home was always open, and she found joy in the simple things like cooking and baking, going for a drive, and a mug of coffee or pastry. She loved spending time with her loved ones, her pups; Brownie and Butchie, and her kitties; Minnie and Miffin, feeding wildlife on her property, conversing on the phone, picking up special gifts for friends and family, and could engage in conversation with anyone who crossed her path. Martha had a special gift in that everyone’s birthday card always arrived right on time. She is survived by her husband and best friend Joe Brown, sons Robert Brown (m. Stephanie), Steve Frank (m. Jeanette), Stuart Frank, Matthew Brown (m. Crystal) and daughter Alberta Daggett (m. Marc). She is also survived by her brothers Kenneth, Dennis, and Jackson Lockhart as well as forty grandchildren and thirty-two great grandchildren with two on the way. Martha was preceded in death by her father Cameron Lockhart, her mother Ruth Lockhart, her siblings Cameron Lockhart, Opal Warner, Bette Smith, and Norma (“Tink”) Seldon, and her children Mark Frank and Diana and Joseph Brown. The family welcomes all who knew Martha Brown to consider making a donation to your local SPCA or animal rescue in lieu of flowers.
We will miss her ever so deeply and she will be loved always and forever.
