Mary Therese Higdon

Mary Therese Christiansen Higdon, 87, of Culpeper, Virginia, passed away January 7, 2022 after suffering complications from surgery. Born October 21,1934 in Somerset, New Jersey to Norman and Regina Christiansen, she had a wonderful childhood and met her future husband, Donald Higdon at the age of sixteen.

After serving in the Korean War, our father proposed to and then married mom September 4, 1954. Together, they had three loving and rambunctious children; Mark Higdon of Eureka Springs, Arkansas, Bruce Higdon of Hanahan, South Carolina and Betsy / Corey of Culpeper, Virginia; grandchildren came along; Kris Bradley of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Rachel Bradley of Charlottesville, Virginia and Chrystee Lucas of Moundsville, West Virginia, great-grandchildren followed; Greg Bradley of Culpeper, Virginia, Maverick, Lillian, Adalynn, Harper, Damien and Alexzander Lucas, all of Moundsville, West Virginia. In addition to her parents, mom was preceded in death by her brother Norman and our father Donald Higdon.

The family will receive friends Friday, January 14, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Clore-English Funeral Home, Culpeper, Virginia.

Mom left behind a treasure of memories that will carry our family through the years. She was a very loving, thoughtful and positive person, who was always a lady first and foremost. We will miss you terribly, but you finally gained your wings…Fly high sweet momma
