

We regret to announce the passing of Mary Ann Woodside, 98, on August 5, 2026, at Shenandoah Nursing and Rehabilitation in Fishersville, VA, after a long bout with dementia. Mary Ann was born to Lloyd and Emma Herring on September 3, 1927, in Missouri.
Mary Ann graduated from Franklin High School and attended Franklin College. She married Bob Woodside, and within a few years, had the first of four children. Mary Ann loved being a homemaker, but eventually went to work at Leggett, which became Belk. She worked in several departments, but is best known for her years in the shoe department. Although she was paid on commission based on sales, she took her time with each customer for as long as they needed, and ultimately was honored with the Gold Sales Award.
Mary Ann was known for her high energy and infectious positivity. She is remembered by her children as always thinking of others and pitching in wherever she could help. She is remembered by her grandchildren for teaching them checkers and working puzzles with them. She was always encouraging and complimentary, and knew how to brighten our days. She was an excellent baker, and loved enjoying homemade desserts and making them for others.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Woodside, and son, Jim Woodside. She is survived by daughter Martha (Tom) Pack, son Doug Woodside, and daughter MaryLynn (Bill) Frantz, who all miss her dearly. She is also survived by grandchildren Lindsay (John) Douglas, Whitney (Chris) Gregory, Ashley (Steve) Bibeau, Kelsey (Tripp) Purks, Haley (Jim) Coloso, Rob (Val) Woodside, David Woodside, Zoe Frantz, Trinity Frantz and Zane Frantz and 21 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, September 6th, 2pm at Clore-English Funeral Home. Visitation will precede at 1pm.
