

Melvin Richard Dwyer, Sr., 82, of Culpeper, VA passed away at Dogwood Village, Orange, VA Tuesday, April 26, 2016. Melvin was born to James “Billy” Dwyer and Elsie W. Dwyer in Culpeper County October 29, 1933. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church; a former member of the Culpeper County Volunteer Rescue Squad and a die heart Redskins fan. Melvin was devoted to his Lord and the Culpeper community, having retired from the Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office.
Surviving Melvin is his son, Melvin Richard Dwyer, Jr. and his wife Kathy of Culpeper and his grandchildren, Robert Dwyer and Caroline Dwyer. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mattie F. Dwyer and his brothers Robert Dwyer and Billy Dwyer.
Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Clore-English Funeral Home Saturday, April 30, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Adam Meisberger conducting the service. Interment will be in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday, April 29, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00p.m. at Clore-English Funeral Home.
