Mescal Dugan Burke

Mescal Dugan Burke passed away on January 2, 2023 at The Culpeper after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born April 18, 1934 in Cherokee, North Carolina to the late William and Flora Dugan. She is also preceded in death by husband, Otis L Burke; son, Jeffrey Burke; and brothers, Duane (Cotton) Dugan and Gary Dugan. She is survived by daughter Tamera Halstead and husband, Jeff; grandchildren, Robin Harrell, Carly Burke, Phillip Smith and Ian Burke; sister, Glenda Smith; and brother, Michael Dugan as well as many nieces and nephews. Mescal and Otis were married in the Culpeper Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and served her church and community as a Sunday school teacher, School Board member and Lifetime member of the Germanna Foundation. Her personal interests were family genealogy, gardening, and travel. A private memorial service will be held at Fairview Cemetery for family and friends.
