

Michael Edward Bowman, 61, of Reva, VA passed away Saturday, March 29, 2014. He was born to Lt. Col. George A. Bowman, Jr. (USAF-retired) and Elise Parker Bowman in Spokane, Washington on June 22, 1952.
Mike was a professional horseman and an avid foxhunter. He was a member of the Keswick, Bull Run, and Farmington Hunt Clubs. In 1968 and 1969 Mike won the Southern Championship, Preliminary Division Area III, and the DeBroke Trophy for the best first year horse. In 1970 he was the most frequently placed rider in Combined Training Events in the nation. After completing high school he attended the Virginia Combined Training Center, Middleburg, VA, and the Morven Park Equestrian Institute, Leesburg, VA. Mike served in the Army, and was assigned to the Modern Pentathlon Training Center. He trained Pentathlon riders and represented the Center in horse shows throughout the United States.
Mr. Bowman is survived by his father, Lt. Col. George A. Bowman, Jr. of Boyce, VA; by his children, Brooke Frame and her husband Chuck of Boyce, VA and Michael Scott Bowman and his wife Leslie of Winchester, VA, Kelly Bowman of Charlottesville, VA and Jamie Bowman of Esmont, VA; his grandchildren, Ellie and Anna Bowman and Charlie and Carter Frame; and his brother, George M. Bowman and his wife Cheryl of Winchester, VA. He was preceded in death by his mother.
The family will receive friends at the Clore-English Funeral Home Thursday, April 3, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
A graveside service will be held Friday, April 4, 2014 in East Hill Cemetery, Salem, VA at 2:00 p.m.
Donations may be given in his memory to the United States Equestrian Team (USET-Eventing) or to the Keswick, Bull Run, or Farmington Hunt Clubs.
