It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Kyle Hoffman, affectionately known as “Ring-eye,” who departed this life on November 15, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on August 20, 1937, in Culpeper, Virginia, Richard lived a rich and meaningful life—one grounded in love for his family, dedication to his work, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys that made each day brighter.
Richard was the cherished son of Paul and Martha Hoffman and the devoted husband of Jo Ann Hoffman, his beloved wife of more than 60 years. Their marriage was one marked by unwavering commitment, laughter, and a home filled with warmth. Together, they built a life rooted in family and shared purpose.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Jo Ann, and their two sons, Richard “Nie” Hoffman and Michael "Mike" Hoffman. He took great pride in being a father and found immense fulfillment in watching his family grow. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren: R. Hunter Partlow (wife Shelby), Chelsey Partlow (partner Zach), Christopher Hoffman (wife Ragina), and Ryan Hoffman, as well as his great-grandchildren, Bradley Partlow, Virgie L. Partlow, and Z. Daine Skinner, Jr. Richard cherished every moment spent with his family—sharing big stories, offering guidance, and creating memories they will forever hold close.
A hardworking and determined man, Richard operated his own tree service business for many years, taking great pride in providing for those he loved. Outside of work, he found joy in spending time with his horses, visiting the Charles Town horse track, and settling in at home with classic John Wayne films and old cowboy shows.
Richard also had a gentle heart for animals, caring for countless farm animals throughout his life. Each creature held a special place with him.
He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Virgie Ann Partlow, and daughter-in-law, Gloria Hoffman—losses that weighed deeply on his heart. Their memories remained a constant comfort to him.
A service honoring Richard’s life will be held on November 21, 2025 (5-7pm), at Clore-English Funeral Home in Culpeper, Virginia, where family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of a remarkable husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Richard Kyle Hoffman, “Ring-eye,” leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and steadfast devotion to family. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
