Beloved wife, mother,
grandmother, and sister
Robin Lou McNey, 74, of Culpeper, Virginia, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away on October 16, 2026.
Robin was born on August 4, 1952, in Washington, D.C., to Charles William Thompson and Mary Pettitt Thompson. She grew up in the Falls Church and Bailey’s Crossroads area of Virginia and graduated from J.E.B. Stuart High School in Falls Church.
For more than 30 years, Robin worked as a waitress at Captain Pell’s Crab House in Fairfax, Virginia, serving the Fairfax community. She was a hard worker, but nothing meant more to her than her family and loved ones.
Robin was the heart and matriarch of her family—a strong, beautiful woman whose personality could light up a room. Generous and giving, she would do anything she could for anyone. She loved her children, grandchildren, and furry grandchildren with all her heart. She also cherished her beloved dog, Lil Bit. She was the leader of the pack, and her love and strength were at the center of the family she cherished.
Robin loved to travel, shop, and keep up with the newest fashions. She also loved to read and spend time with a good book. Above all, her greatest joy was her family.
She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, John McNey; her children, John C McNey (Trina), Brandie White, and Brent McNey (Alicia); her loving sisters, Sandra Deane and Georgette Gore (Landon); her sister-in-law, Sandra Deshazo (Jim); and her brother-in-law, Robert McNey (Sharon).
Her cherished grandchildren include Savannah, Samantha, and Summer, the children of John C and Trina, and Alexis and Laney, the daughters of Brandie.
She is also survived by beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews, all of whom held a special place in her heart.
Robin was preceded in death by her parents, Charles William Thompson and Mary Pettitt Thompson; her sister, Linda Hooker; and her brothers-in-law, Donald McNey and William Deane.
Robin will be deeply missed by her family and all who loved her. Her love, generosity, and the light she brought into their lives will remain with them always.
A celebration of life honoring Robin will be held on Friday, October 30, 2026, at 12 noon at Clore-English Funeral Home, 11190 James Monroe Highway, Culpeper, Virginia 22701. Following the service there will be a family and friends gathering at Pepper’s Grill, 791 Madison Road, Culpeper, Virginia 22701.
