Shirley was born in Alexandria, Virginia on January 31, 1934. She lived in Annandale, Virginia most of her adult life. She worked for Fairfax County Public Schools for 25 years as a school bus driver. She had four children, Willard Bennett, Jr. (Susan); Mark Bennett (Dianne); Christopher Bennett (Patty); daughter, Wendy Farrish; 13 grandchildren, Chris Bennett, II, Angie, Melissa, Tanya, Allison, Jenn, Brittany, Kevin, Layne, Victoria, Warren, Ellis and William. There were also 20 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
