Sydney Rodda, a beloved pillar of the Culpeper community, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2026, at the age of 72, with his devoted wife Lois by his side. Born on September 24, 1953, in Virginia, Sydney lived a life marked by kindness, warmth, and service to others.
Sydney was the cherished son of Edwin and Evelyn Rodda, both of whom preceded him in death, as did his sister, Delois McCormick, and his grandson, Robert Lewis. Despite these profound losses, Sydney found solace and strength in the family he built with his beloved wife, Lois C. Rodda. They shared a life together that spanned 44 years, beginning with their marriage on July 26, 1980.
Sydney is survived by his loving wife, Lois, his daughter Martha Lewis, his son Ed Rodda, and his adored grandchildren, Heather Sherman, Cody Lewis, and Alexis Rodda. His legacy of love and kindness continues with his great-grandson, Bennett Sherman, who will undoubtedly grow up hearing stories of his great-grandfather’s many acts of generosity and his passion for life.
Sydney's educational journey led him to earn associates degrees in both parks and recreation and computer science, showcasing his diverse interests and talents. His professional life was dedicated to service, as he lent his culinary skills as a chef for Company 9 fire department and actively participated in the life and community of Culpeper United Methodist Church.
Perhaps Sydney's most renowned passion was his love for firearms, which was well-known among his friends and family. Yet, it was his personal qualities that truly defined him. Sydney never turned away anyone in need; he was the shoulder to cry on, a friend to all, and a source of unwavering support and compassion.

Sydney Rodda's life was a testament to the power of kindness and community. He left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him, and his spirit will continue to inspire acts of generosity and love. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will live on in the stories shared by those who loved him and the lives he touched.
In this time of mourning, we remember Sydney not only for the life he led but for the love he gave so freely. May he rest in peace, embraced by the love he extended to so many during his time with us.
