I have so many wonderful memories of my years in band with Mr. Thomas, starting in 6th grade. I still have the record album we made to raise money to go to Hightstown, NJ for the band exchange program in 1972. So many classes & rehearsals for concerts & competitions for both concert & marching band, & friendships from those shared experiences that have lasted a lifetime. My mom, Olivia Will, also worked with him in the CCHS office when he became Vice- Principal. He will be missed by so many. ❤

Dear Thomas Family, please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of Walter Thomas. He taught me from 5th grade when I picked up the trumpet, to my graduation with the class of '72, and he taught my siblings as well. I also shared HS band classes with Kim. Mr. Thomas was a kind, patient, and empathetic person and he was a passionate music educator. I will remember him with fond memories and deep appreciation for how he helped me along the way!

Walter Thomas introduced me to the world of music when I was in the 7th grade. He started me on the clarinet and it was through music that math quickly came to me. All of the practices for football games that we did on cold mornings learning how to move around the field to make different shapes like a guitar was really amazing. He led us into many competitions and took the band to New York City for an exchange with another band in New Jersey. Thanks for all the wonderful memories. You will be greatly missed!

As I write this my heart is so very sad for the loss of Walt. Not only do I have sweet high school memories of him, but of the wonderful loving friendship he and Hermine showed to my family (the Spicer family) over MANY years. I loved Walt's kind smile, and his love for his many students, community and church family. Walt was a true man of God in all respects. His wonderful stories he shared with me over time still comes to my mind often and I treasure them. I now rejoice for Walt that he is praising our Lord. ❤ He is with the King of Glory.
